On Wednesday Mr Kau Kau came to room 9 to teach us some maori carving and some Maori backround. I walked into the classroom and saw a tall man and a strong vibe coming from his voice. I walked up to him and asked if he remembers my mum from the hospital and he picked up a wight soft blanket and hid it on his face because my mum and him go way back to when my mum was little. He walked up to the front of the classroom and he had his rakau in his right hand and put a pukana face on and started to welcome us. He told us about these 2 guys who went into the forest to hunt for some food because they were hungry. One of the men told the other man to be quiet and the other man said why,why do we have to be quiet? Because I told you to, ohhhhh said the other man they slowly walked into the forest but quietly and one of the men saw two birds and yelled look! Look over there! And all the birds took off and the man said look what you did but enough of the story and back to reality. It took him heaps of time to actually get to what were doing. He told us that we were doing soap carving for the rest of the day. He always did the steps before so we knew what we were doing. I had the most amazing day of my life. But I almost forgot he asked us to do our Mihi we all done our Mihi and he started to cry but they were joy tears. He did his Mihi and then he did a song for the people who died in the chch earthquake and I almost cried because his voice was so special and tender.

While I was in there I got 2 caught being good cards to choose the two workers in the class and I chose Anaru and Jessica for concentrating on their work the whole 15 minutes. After lunch I went into room 9 and it smelt like soap everywhere and it was even cold. I saw Mr Kaukau and said hello then 2 minutes later he made me a soap carving and I didn't even know he was going to make me one. When he finished making me one he have it to me and said I'm special then I said thank you . When lunch finished Mrs Thoms came in to take over for the art interchange and we worked on Rumplestiltskin the whole afternoon.

Day 2 Group 1 going Mountain Biking
On Thursday morning Mrs Fisher woke up all of the kids for breakfast at the Maling kitchen.I got out of bed got dressed and ran to the kitchen. After breakfast two girls and one man named John came and told us where and when we are going to do our activity. When John took us outside to talk about what were doing for today we had to introduce our self first and say what our favourite pie was.John lead us to the garage where all of the bikes are because we were going bike riding through two forests. The first one we went to was the back one.We started going in the forest for Mountain Biking and it was to bumpy going through it but I think it was fun. After that we crossed the road to get to the other forest.John was doing a test of who is going to beat who.We came out of the other side which was near the side we went in.After Mountain Biking we went back to camp and sat on the grass and talked about how we really liked bike riding.
Hanmer Springs Camp
On Wednesday morning room 9 went to Hanmer Springs for camp. We went in a Cityline bus which had a tv which was not working. Our gear went in a place under the bus and our school bags were inside under our feet or on top of our heads which had a little place. We boarded the bus with a surprised look because it was flash before we went inside our teacher Mrs Hewitt told us our cabins. In cabin m1 there was Sandra,Georgia,Rhiana and Ashleigh in m2 there was Sammy, Hinerongo, Varasilah and Dianna in m3 there was Summer,Sarah and Venizze and in m4 there was Mrs Hewitt to keep them quiet at night. In m5 there was paul and in m6there was Mohammad, Zac, Jamie and Nikhil and in m7 there was Hosanna, Dhontayne and Tamatea. When the bus started we recognised that it had seat belts and feet rests so we put on our seat belts and put our feets on the feet rests. The driver started to drive and we were waving goodbye. On the way we went to Culverden to have morning tea. When we got there we saw our cabins and loaded our stuff inside them then we went to the Maling kitchen for a meeting. We went to orienteering in the Hanmer forest with maps and before we went a man told us our objective which was to find these cylinder tubes. We all had a really really fun time and some of us got lost and some didn't.It was a really big forest with heaps of trees and bushes. When we got back to our camp we went to the kitchen for lunch and dinner which was bbq sausages, spaghetti and c/slaw and for pudding we had fruit and jelly. After we had dinner and supper we played spotlight in the dark which was so much fun and then we went to sleep.
